Zwift Tour de Zwift 2024 | Stage 3

So another ride and another levelling up! I don’t like this at all – it seems far too easy to do so. Anyway, I’ve now unlocked the Tour de Zwift 2024 Bucket Hat and some Oversize Glasses. This evening I completed the third stage of the 2024 Tour de Zwift. The Category A route was a single lap of Makuri 40 in the Makuri Islands. I’d not ridden this route before but I had ridden some of its sections. I was quite surprised at how tiring this one was given the lack of climbing.

Zwift Tour de Zwift 2024 | Stage 2

This evening I completed the second stage of the 2024 Tour de Zwift. The Category A route was two laps of The Muckle Yin in Scotland. I’d not ridden this route before but I had ridden most of it’s sections including the nasty Sgurr Summit. This ride would feature that twice in both directions as well as four other climbs. Needless to say it was a little tough and I could feel the burn in my legs afterwards. However it wasn’t as tiring as Stage 1 which I was very pleasantly surprised with.

I also levelled up to Level 25 during the ride. It seems rather too easy to level up following the recent changes and I’m not sure I like it.

Zwift Tour de Zwift 2024 | Stage 1

This evening I completed the first stage of the 2024 Tour de Zwift. The Category A route was Triple Loops in London. This was a fair distance and not having completed it previously along with not checking the route beforehand I had a nasty shock on the ride when I realised it would cover both Leith Hill and Box Hill climbs, not to mention that particularly gnarly 15% staircase in the tube station at the end!

Still I completed it without feeling too bad and managed to level up to Level 24 during the ride.

Runna Week 03 – Redux Pt 3

At long last, I managed to complete the long 12 km run from Week 3! I got on the treadmill without any particular plan but then thought I’d give it a whirl. The run itself was 8 km at an easy pace and then 4 km at 8.3 km/h. I therefore chose 7.3km/h for the easy pace and it was thankfully OK. I inadvertently skipped the week’s 5 km run but I figured I can pick that up at any time.

Overall progress can be seen here.

Runna Week 03 – Redux Pt 2

Blimey calf muscles can be really annoying! I decided on a long rest with a bit of cycling to fill the gaps and it was all going well. Then one night I decided to trot whilst walking the dog and my right calf felt a bit stiff afterwards. Was my own fault as I did no warm up at all and started off too fast. Annoyingly the dog loved it! Thankfully, my calf was just a bit tight rather than injured and the left calf felt absolutely fine. Anywyay, this evening I thought I’d have another go at Week 3 of my Runna training plan. and picked up on Run 2 – 6.2 km of Hill training leaving me with 5 km (Thursday) and 12 km (Saturday), classified as Easy and Long respectively. Previously I had to cut my 12 km run due to the original problem with my left calf back at the end of September.

On tonight’s effort I felt perfectly fine.

Overall progress can be seen here.
